Good afternoon everybody here is my wrap up from last night's Frisco League doubleheader from Bulldog Field as the Newburg Wolves and the Plato Eagles came to town to battle the Dixon Bulldogs.
Game One Plato vs Dixon
In the first game of the afternoon would see Joe Hardwick's walk of single with the bases loaded lift the Dixon Bulldogs past the Plato Eagles 8-7 and keep the Dixon undefeated in League play. The Eagles would get the scoring going in the top of the first when Jake Murrell would lead off the game with a double to right center field then a single by third basemen John Anthony would bring home Murrell and it was 1-0 Eagles. In the Dixon half of the inning the Bulldogs would take the lead. Andrew Meier got things started when he singled to lead off the game then Joe Hardwick would reach on a fielder's choice. On the play the ball was hit to the pitcher and the throw to the second basemen to get Meier was high allowing Meier to reach second safely. Slugging Bulldog second basemen Hunter Barnett scored both Meier and Hardwick when he doubled making it 2-1 Dixon after one. Plato would tie it with a long ball in the second, Eagle slugger Wyatt Penley would destroy a 3-1 fast ball for a solo shot and it was 2-2 after two innings. Dixon would plate two runs in the third without a hit to retake the lead. Solomon Weider and Barnett were both walked the Cole Emmons was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A Wild pitch brought home Weider and a ground out to short off the bat of pitcher Hunter McCoy would get Barnett home making it 4-2 after three. The Bulldogs would get another in the fourth when Drake Rujawitz was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. An RBI single by Weider up the middle would be enough to bring in Rujawitz making it 5-2 after Four.
The Eagles would use another long ball in the top of the sixth to regain some momentum. Tate Hildebrand would lead off the inning being hit by a pitch then senior John Anthony would clobber the first pitch he saw for a two run blast over the left field fence making it 5-4.
Dixon seemed to deliver a crushing blow in the bottom of the sixth when they added on two more runs to push their lead to 7-4. Meier would draw a walk then Hardwick would single to put two on. Senior Catcher Solomon Weider would smoke a triple that would bring in both Meier and Hardwick. Drama in the seventh! The Eagles would not quit as Conner Hathaway would reach on an error then Keagan Adams would hit an infield single to put two on with no outs. Jake Murrell would get hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs. Tate Hildebrand would ground out to first which would get Hathaway home. Eagles slugger Josh Hildebrand would smack a single in the 5-6 hole that would tie the game up at 7-7. Plato would continue to threaten as Gage Crews would single and an error in the outfield would move both runners into scoring position. Dixon would elect to intentionally pass on Penley then force Jalen Supancic to ground out to second end the Plato threat.
In the Dixon half of the seventh McCoy would walk then Lane Withers would lay down a perfect sac bunt to move him to second. A single by Rujawitz would put two on with one out he would steal second on the following pitch. A Dixon strikeout would be the second out and Plato with a base open opted to intentionally walk Meier to get to Hardwick. Dixon Senior Joe Hardwick would come through big as he would smash a ball that hit the fence in left field for the walk off RBI.

Game Two Newburg vs Dixon
In the night cap it was all Dixon in this one as they rumbled past the Newburg Wolves 13-1 in five innings to push their record to 11-3 and 4-0 in the conference. Dixon would one in the first, six in the second and six more in the third inning. Newburg's lone run would come in the top of the second. For Dixon skipper Alex Shelton the last two innings or so was a chance to get his reserves some at bats and on field time. With all the rain outs and lack of JV games that a big plus for the Dixon reserves.
