Good evening everybody here is a story that appeared at Ky3.com written by Israel Potoczny covering the MSHSAA Class 2 State Sectionals that were held at the Boswell Auditorium on the campus of Lebanon High School.
The win sets up a coaching showdown between Iberia head coach Steve Scholfield and Pierce City head coach Matt Street. Scholfield coached Street when he was a player and Scholfield a head coach at Crocker High School. Pierce City posted a 37-35 win over Crane in its Class 2 sectional game.
The two teams will square off at 1 p.m. on Saturday at O'Reilly Family Event Center in Springfield.
One year after going 16-10 and just three years removed from a 9-15 season, the Rangers are 26-3, ranked, and will play Pierce City (19-10) for the right to go to the second semifinal in the school's history. Iberia last went to the Final Four in boys' basketball in 1968.
"It is something that I have always dreamed about since I was little," Dickey said. "Coming from a team where the last couple of years we weren't very good, we worked hard in the summer and offseason. We have tried every practice to get better and we couldn't do it without the coaches and the guys.
"I don't think anybody expected it, really. (But), we got a 6-9 kid coming out of junior high and he is a big help."
Dexter Frisbie, a 6-foot-9 freshman, added 17 points for Iberia on Wednesday and made it difficult for Dora to score points around the basket. Iberia also won the rebounding battle on Wednesday against Dora, coming up with a host of second-chance points.
"We've got a 6-foot-9 guy (Frisbie) in the middle and we try to send opponents there," Iberia head coach Steve Scholfield said. "We rebound the ball well, have size and we share the ball really well."
On Wednesday, the Rangers also got four 3-pointers and 14 points from 6-foot-2 senior guard Issac Minnick. Seniors Fabien Juliano added six points and Ryan Voss added two, and the Rangers got eight points from sophomore Dustin Bloodgood and three from junior guard Tyler Slawson off the bench.
"Depth is definitely one of our strengths," Scholfield said. "Our main two (substitutes) I think can start for most, if not all, of the teams in the Frisco League."
Iberia and Dora were tied at 17-17 after the end of the first quarter, and Dora even held a brief 22-19 lead early in the second quarter after a 3-pointer from junior guard Gavin Haney. But Iberia ended the first half on a 14-0 run as the Rangers held Dora scoreless for the final five minutes of play to build a 38-26 halftime lead.
"We got down, but we got right back up and battled back," Scholfield said. "And when we got the lead, we hung on to it the rest of the night."
Dickey, a 6-foot-1 junior, scored 16 of his 27 points in the second half and helped fuel a big third quarter by Iberia. Dickey scored 12 points in the third and threw down a pair of two-handed dunks in transition.
Dora (23-6) was making its first appearance in the playoffs in school history after capturing its first district title in school history on Saturday. Dora won all three of its district games by a comfortable margin as they defeated Norwood in its opener by 26 points, Mansfield in the semifinals by 21 and Gainesville in the championship, 63-46.
On Wednesday, the Falcons got 19 points from sophomore Treysen Hambelton, 14 from junior Gavin Haney and 13 from senior Dustin Johnson.

Girls Game
"It feels great," Crocker head coach Nancy Ward said. "The kids had their minds set on this since day 1. We're just glad to be back and have a shot."
Last season, Crocker won a district title and then won a sectional game over Fordland at Lebanon High School and advanced on to the quarterfinals, where the Lions fell in overtime to Marionville.
Despite a varsity roster that features just seven players — including four freshmen — Crocker has just two losses this season. The first came to Class 4 Bolivar in the championship game of the Lebanon Central Bank Tournament on Dec. 29, and the second came to Class 3 Dixon on Jan. 3 in a rematch of the Frisco League championship game.
On Wednesday, the Lions got 41 points from freshmen guards Lindsay Medlen and Kelsi York and knocked off Seymour, a team that was 30-0 and advanced to the Class 3 Final Four where they placed fourth. In the offseason, Seymour was reclassified to Class 2.
"They didn't play like freshmen tonight," Ward said.
Seymour (25-4) was within four points with 3:13 remaining on Wednesday and looked to have captured the momentum after picking up the fourth foul on both Medlen and Crocker senior Meagan Wall. Crocker went to the free throw line and had an opportunity to expand its lead to six, but missed the front end of a one-and-one and a basket by Seymour senior Bailey Boring cut the Crocker lead to two (48-46) with two minutes remaining.
But it was as close as Seymour would get.
Crocker got a basket and a 3-pointer from Medlen on consecutive plays to expand the lead to seven (53-46), and after a 3-pointer from Seymour senior Braythan Helms cut the Lion lead to four (53-49), Crocker closed out the game at the free throw line, going 8-for-8 in the final 1:37.
The Lions knocked down seven 3-pointers in the contest and finished the game 16-for-18 from the free throw line.
"They really bared down and went to the (free throw) line with confidence tonight," Ward said.
Helms led Seymour with 21 points, while Randi Deckard added 14 and Sarah Cook added 13 points.
Crocker got 15 points from 5-foot-11 senior Brianna Peterson and four points from senior guard Jenna Mendez.
