Good evening everybody I would like to welcome you as i give my wrap up from the MSHSAA Class 2 District 9 Championships as well as the Friscoleague.com all tournament teams.
Girls Championship (1) Crocker vs (2) Laquey
The Crocker Lady Lions would make it two straight as they would claim their second District title in a row with a 58-42 victory over the host Laquey Lady Hornets. Crocker would come out on a roll in the hitting some threes late in the frame to open up a commanding 15-2 edge after one. Give Laquey some credit they would come out in the second and slow the paced down to a more methodical pace and it would see them outscore Crocker 18-7 but it would be the Lady Lions on top 22-20 at the half. The Lady Lions would come out in the third with the same intensity that they came out with in the first quarter and would out run the host 18-11 to make it a 40-31 after three. Laquey would be forced to try to speed up trying to cut into the lead but Crocker would thrive as they would put up twenty-eight points in the frame to Laquey's eleven and Crocker would win it big.

Boys Championship Game (1) Iberia vs (3) Vienna
The Iberia Rangers stormed to their first District title since the 1993-94 season as they blistered the Vienna Eagles 53-28. In the first half of the ball game Iberia would simply dismantle Vienna both with their offensive execution and their smothering defense. Iberia would pound Vienna 16-2 in the first quarter and they would seemingly end this at halftime as they would out do the Eagles 19-8 in the frame. It would be all Iberia 35-10 at that point. The Iberia defense would stifle Vienna only allowing a three point buzzer beater by Ethan Farrow ans that was it. The Rangers would put up ten points and led this one 45-13 after three and the celebration was beginning. Iberia would get their reserves some minutes in the final eight and Vienna would take advantage of it 15-8 but it wouldn't matter as the night belonged to Iberia.

"Night just like the other nights of this tournament we played like a good team should, we played up to our potential and not to the level of teams we have been playing. We were able to take what they gave us and we made the most of what they gave us. We were able to jump out early on them and kinda put our foot on their throat in the first and we didn't let up in the second. They simply had no answer for it. We had some good leader ship by our upper classmen and everybody for us did some special things during the tournament. I'm happy to get the chance to coach such a special group of kids and winning tonight was a pay off for a lot of work that began this summer." Head Coach Steve Scholfield
