Good morning everybody here is my wrap up from the boys night at the MSHSAA Class 2 District 9 action at the Laquey High School Gym.
(1) Iberia vs (8) Laquey
In the early game of the boys night the Iberia Rangers would blister the host Laquey Hornets 70-30 in a game that resembled most 1 vs 8 games. The Rangers would come out and would pound their way to a 19-8 lead after one period of play. In the second frame Iberia would use their defense to help them blow this open as they would hold the host school to just six points in the frame while putting up fifteen points to make it a 34-14 Rangers lead at the half. The third would see both squads push the tempo of the game and Iberia would outdo Laquey 22-14 in the frame to make it a 56-28 lead after three. In the final eight minutes of the game Iberia would get their reserves some minutes in the game and it would pay dividends as nine of the eleven Rangers that suited up would put points on the board. Iberia would outscore Laquey 14-2 in the frame.

The second game of the evening would see a grind out as both the Crocker Lions got together with the Newburg Wolves and points were definitely at a premium as Newburg pulled away late 41-29. The first would be a classic grind fest as the Newburg Wolves were on top 9-6 after the first quarter. The second would see the defense of both teams go to work but the Lions offense would beat Newburg's defense as they would outscore Newburg 10-7 in the period to tie this one up at a snails pace 16-16 at half. The third would continue the grind fest as neither team could really over come the defense of the other but Newburg would grind their way to a 25-23 edge after three. The fourth quarter would see the Wolves able to surge a head by four points early on then try to delay this one. Crocker would do some fouling and Newburg would do their part to hit some free throws to put this away.

The third would see Plato's game plan continue to work as they would limit possessions and they would hold on to a 29-25 lead after three periods.
