Good evening everybody here is my wrap up from the first night of the Mshsaa Class 2 District Tournament at Laquey.
(1) Crocker vs (8) Newburg
The first game of the day would see the Crocker Lady Lions blast the Newburg Lady Wolves 56-19 to advance to the semifinals. The Lady Wolves would come out trying to use some delay tactics to slow Crocker but the Lady Lions would pressure them into several turnovers and were leading this one 11-2 after one. In the second Crocker would blow this one open as they were able to pressure their way to a 24-2 edge in the quarter to make it a 35-4 game at the half. The third quarter would prove to be the only highlight for the Lady Wolves as they would outscore Crocker 15-14 in the period but it was a 49-19 game after three. In the running clock shortened fourth Crocker would outscore their opponent 7-0 in the frame. Newburg ends their season at 6-19

(4) Stoutland vs (5) Vienna
The Vienna Lady Eagles would use a big fourth quarter to pull away from the Stoutland Lady Tigers and collect a 54-41 triumph to move to play Crocker on Tuesday in the semis. This one would be a grind in the first court as both teams would defend and Stoutland would carve their way to a 10-8 lead after one. In the second the methodical pace would continue but the Lady Eagles would score Stoutland 14-12 in the frame to make this a tied ball game 22-22 at the half. In the third both teams would again fight to a stalemate as both squads would put up twelve points and it was deadlocked 34-34 after three. The fourth would see Vienna hit some shots early in the frame to get Stoutland down then the Lady Tigers would have to launch up some threes to cut it to with in two points with a minute and a half left. Vienna would go stall game and Stoutland would begin to foul. The Lady Eagle's duo of Jerica Foster and Emma Schiermeier would hit ten straight free throws to seal the victory. The story in this one was the free throw shooting Vienna was 21 of 28 for 75 percent and Stoutland was 100 percent but the bad news was they only shot eight free throws on the night.
