Good evening everybody here is my wrap up from night one of the 38th Annual Newburg Lady Wolves Invitational Tournament.
(1) Licking vs (8) Newburg JV
The Licking Lady Wildcats cruised in their opening round game with a 55-15 rout of the Newburg Junior Varsity Lady Wolves. Licking would jump all over the JV Ladies and run out to a 21-6 lead after one quarter. In the second the Lady Cats would out pace Newburg's JV 17-4 to make it a 38-10 lead at the half. In the third quarter they would outscore the JV Lady Wolves 10-4 to make it a 48-14 game after three. In the turbo clock shortened fourth Licking would outscore Newburg's JV 7-1. Licking would use the opportunity to rest some players as everybody on the roster that suited up would log minutes in this one.

(4) Viburnum vs (5) Salem
The Salem Lady Tigers would use a strong second half to blow out the Viburnum Lady Jays 65-50 in the only upset of the first night at the tournament. Salem would jump out to an early ten point lead but Viburnum would close out the first quarter with a fury and it would be tied up at 14-14 after one. In the second Salem would continue to use their speed and athleticism to push the tempo outscoring Viburnum 15-6 to make it a 29-20 Lady Tiger edge at break. Salem's offensive display would continue in the third as they would bury Viburnum in the third 21-16 and push their lead to a 50-36 game. In the final eight it would be a closely contested frame with Salem outscoring Viburnum 15-14.

The Lady Wildcats would blow this one open in the second as they blasted the Richland Lady Bears 57-26. The first quarter would see both teams struggle to find their offensive rhythm and it would be Cuba on top 8-5 after one. In the second Cuba would find their fire power as they would outscore Richland 19-9 to take the 27-14 halftime lead. In the third Cuba would again put up a nineteen spot and push their lead to a 46-25 advantage after three. In the final frame the Lady Cats would invoke the running clock by outscoring their opponent 11-1.

(3) Laquey vs (6) Newburg
In the night cap the Laquey Lady Hornets punched their semifinal ticket with a 52-26 blistering of the host Newburg Lady Wolves. The first quarter would be a grind out as both teams dug in and Laquey would carve out a 12-9 edge after one period. The second would belong to the Lady Hornets as they would outscore the host team 16-2 and were on top of this one 28-11 at the break. Laquey would outscore Newburg 11-5 in the third to make it 39-16 after three. Laquey would mop up in the fourth outscoring the Lady Wolves 13-10.
