Good evening everybody here is my wrap up from Friday Night's Frisco League shootout between the Plato Eagles and the Richland Bears in Northwest Pulaski County.
Plato 70 Richland 89
This one was an old fashioned shootout as both teams put some points up on the scoreboard as 160 plus points were scored and when it was all over the Bears claimed a 89-70 triumph over Plato. The score-a-thon was on in the first as both teams jumped out of the gates firing the ball with reckless abandon the Plato dribble drive was working and Richland was scoring the ball well too. Richland would out dual the Eagles 30-24 in the first quarter. In the second period Richland would widen the gap to as many as 15 midway threw the frame but Plato would rally hitting some big threes and getting some defensive stops they would climb back to within two possessions by the time halftime rolled around. Richland was leading it 47-42. The third quarter would see the tempo of this one slow down some both teams ran more offense and Richland would outscore Plato 18-15 in the quarter to make it a 65-57 game after three. In the final eight minutes Richland would pull away as they would outscore Plato 24-13.
"This is a good win for us Plato is a dangerous team they have two guards (Adams and Supancic) that are pretty tough and ther big kid is pretty solid (Penley). They are young and next year they are going to be a team to watch out for. As for us we were able to put together four strong quarters of basketball tonight and we had some balanced scoring with four in doubles which is what we want. Its a good win forus and we have to turn around to face Cassville tomorrow afternoon so we are going to haveto come ready for them. They are going to be big and physical." Richland Head Coach Kent Stoumbaugh
