Good evening everybody here is my wrap up from the three game night between Skyline and Richland at the shootout at Dixon high school gym.
Skyline at Richland
The Richland Bears would get a two point 71-69 win over the state ranked Skyline Tigers in a game that would see one of the most controversial finishes I have ever witnessed. In the first quarter the Tigers would blowout of the gate in this one as they would nail some three pointer and were leading this one 26-16 after one. In the second the Richland Bears would get it going as they would hold Skyline's offense to just ten points while they would put up a nineteen spot in the frame but it would be Skyline clinging to a 36-35 edge at the break. The second half of this one would be close through out as neither team was able to build up anything more then a six point lead at any time in the last sixteen minutes. In the third Richland would out score Skyline 14-12 in the frame and led this one 49-48. The final eight minutes would simply be a battle as both teams would trade the lead back and forth late in the frame. With a minute left in the game Richland's Cody Hall would can a ten foot jumper to give his Bears a one point lead. On the Skyline possession that followed, Tiger's forward Dylan Mountain was fouled he would hit one free throw to tie it up at 69-69. Richland would hold it for the last shot and a forced shot by Seth Myers was missed and Skyline forward would race to the basket and appear to be fouled as he shot it and the buzzer expired and let the controversy begin....
One of the refs would call an over the back on a skyline player after the a Tiger's guard appeared to be fouled on his way to the basket. It was also ruled there be one second left in the game. Seth Myers would drill one free throw and before the second shot Skyline Coach Buck Shockley told the one of the refs," I want a time out after the shot make or miss." Well the second was missed and the whistle was blown when it would obviously be Skyline that would get the possession but the refs would rule it an inadvertent whistle because the Tigers didn't have possession and go to the possession arrow which gave it back to Richland. Richland would hit another free throw before a half court shot by Skyline was missed allowing the Bears to escape with the win.
"Its a really nice win for us probably our biggest win of the year they were 15-4 going into tonight and actually state ranked in this past poll. We were able to play some defense on the in the second to help us climb back into this game and make it a one point game at half. We were able to survive some foul problems and to pick up the win and on top of all that we are still with out Chase (Sullivan) who is out with an injury. Cody Hall was really big for us tonight with 28 points and several key rebounds though out the game. We were able to ride his shoulders and he came up big when we needed him to. This will will help us as we prepare for the District tournament and it was a good night to be a Bear." Head Coach Kent Stoumbaugh

The Shootout at the Doghouse
The Dixon Bulldogs hit the ground running as they blasted the School of the Osage Indians and got their second game of the season over the century mark with a 108-75 win. The third quarter of this one would see a game of runs as Dixon ran out to a ten point lead early but School of the Osage would rally and pull within two points (14-12) midway threw the quarter. Dixon would outscore their guests 12-8 the last half of the frame to lead it 26-20 after one. The second quarter would see the Bulldogs hit their stride offensively as they would simply bury the Indians 32-17 in the frame held a commanding 58-37 edge at the intermission. In the final eight that was shortened by the mercy clock Dixon would outscore Osage 19-14.
"We were trying to come out and make a statement against a district opponent and I think we did that with the win tonight. We had Collin get in a bit of foul trouble early and it was good to see the other Bulldogs pick up the slack when he was out. Solomon had a monster night nearly with a triple double and thirty points on top of that so he helped us pick up the slack. It was a good defensive night ofr us we out rebounded them defensively and offensively. They got 75 points but they also had a lot of possessions. We were able to get out and do what we want to do and for us that is very mportant. It was a nice win for us and it was a great tune up before we get Licking Friday." Dixon Head Coach Mike Phillips
