Iberia won on a last second shot by Fabien Juliano in overtime 75-72. My thoughts- Dixon is much improved from early on in the season. Iberia is also vulnerable if they only have Dexter and Dickey playing well. Darrien Dickey is clearly the favorite over Collin right now for MVP. And for those of you that watched the game know how great of a game it was.

Only 2 playing well? Issac Minnick & Fabien Juliano had double figures in 2 of the 3 games. Minnick had 4-3's vs Richland, Juliano had 3-3's vs Dixon. According to the radio Ryan Voss had 12 points & 11 rebounds. How much better should they be playing? This is called team ball and that is why they are 16-2 not because of 1 or 2 players.

Darrien and Dexter were the two that stood out to me against Dixon. That's the game I was talking about. I totally forgot about Ryan, he did play very well during that game. I was only talking about the Dixon game, that's why I said they are vulnerable when only two of them played well. But I'm sorry to Ryan, he played very well. I'm pretty sure Minnick only had 2, and Dustin Bloodgood was almost invisible out there. But you're right, it is a team game and it was team win. But you are kidding your self if you think some of the usual scorerers for Iberia played well. Even Darrien who had to have had close to 30 missed several easy shots.

Alright here is what I saw the other night....first off Dixon had a never say die attutude they fought till the last second and made big play after big play to force this thing into overtime. So it is appaerent they are buying into what Coach Phillips wants them to do. As for Iberia they probably should have won this in regulation they missed some free throws late in the fourth quarter but they were able to over come that. Iberia is vunarable when they get forget that its's team basketball that is the difference between how they played in their Tournament and when they played Licking. When they get away from sharing the basketball and individuals trying to do too much that is when they get into trouble. The last minute and half in the second quarter would bear witness to that there were players just forcing things instead of letting it come to them.
When they are able to share the ball get some balance in the scoring they are at their best like when they played Eugene at Richland. I have to make this observation tho you can't measure everything from just the score sheet after the game. Issac only had 2 in the championship game but how many boards and defensive plays did he come up with and how do you measure his senior leadership. These are things that didn't come up in the box score and Voss had a double-double, if that isn't worthy of standing out I'm really not sure what else you got to do. Juliano drilled ten.....they had four players in doubles and thats what they want. I know sometimes parents want to see their kid have a giant night but you know I didn't think Bloodgood or anybod else played badly. They played within themselves and sometimes its not their night to be the big gun but when you try to force it thats when you become a detrament to your time.
Just for fun here is the box score from the other night
D-Collin Holzer 29, Hayden Yoakum 18, Solomon Weider 13, Korey Burrow 6, Grant Patterson 4, Josh Parker 2 I-Darrien Dickey 29, Dexter Frisbee 18, Ryan Voss 12, Fabien Juliano 11, Issac Minnick 2, Tyler Slawson2, Dustin Bloodgood 1
Score by Quarter
Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 OT I 11 28 46 62 75 D 9 28 45 62 72
Third Place Game
What a game that was Richland's Chase Sullivan would stick in the game winner with lessthen a second left to most likely give Richland the second seed in the district and a 58-56 win over Vienna.
Box Score R-Seth Myers 19, Jake Horton 11, Chase Sullivan 10, Cody Hall 8, Steven Domingue 5, Logan Mathis 5 V-Chandler Harker 20, Connor Backues 15, Ethan Farrow 11, Kody Kleffner 4, Justin Bull 4, Bryse Rowden 2
Consolation-Belle 61 Crocker 46 7th St. Elizabeth 54 Tuscumbia 48

I think you're right, Dixon is buying into the run and gun style very well. And they are improving everyday. Iberia just looked stagnant, and maybe it's just me, but apart from Dickey, Dexter, and Ryan Voss they looked weak. Juliano had an amazing shot to win the game, but made a ton of silly plays during the game. Isaac had some great defensive plays, but had a few to many turnovers, as did Dickey. But you're right, they are at their best when they have a balanced scoring effort. I'm hoping that Iberia can get it fixed by the end of the year, because to me, they are going in the wrong direction right now. Playing Richand to just ten, losing to Licking at home, and bearly beating Dixon at home. Those types of games can't happen after districts.

I just want to now this this Friscolover how many was Iberia supposed to beat Richland by because according to FriscoFan they will most likely be the second seed. Richland may have underachieved during the FLT but they look to be a force to be dealt with if they will get the second seed in districts. And yes I agree with Frisco Iberia got selfish there in the end of the second thats why Dickey got an ear full from Coach Scholfield and rightfully so. They got it together and play way better but D@nm did Dixon just keep hitting big three pointer after three pointer and they would just not lay down. They were down two with just three seconds and Holzer just grabbed the pass from the Iberia player and hit the game tying lay up. So give some credit to Dixon for making things happen to send it to over time. I don't think players like Slawson, Minnick and Bloodgood disappeared. I think they just played within themselves. Heck Bloodgood was on the RHT All Tournament team and Minnick was on the All FL Tournament team. They played hard and didn't push the issue in the title game and that was very helpful to their team.
Juliano hit a Heck of a shot to win this game but this is the type of game that will really help the Rangers come district time dealing with adversity and responding well. Iberia really played well but their free throw shooting in the fourth wasn't great but they still got t done. For Dixon this is a major moving forward experience as nobody but them (Coach Phillips and FriscoFan) expected this to be this close of a game. Close games will happen in districts and Iberia has to go to Richland for their homecoming Friday so that will only help. That will be another helpful game for the Rangers come districts. I'll be sure to be there to watch that game and catch the FriscoFan on the Mic over in Richland because that will make it extra interesting. I'm sure the reigning FL Coach of the Year Coach Stoumbaugh will have something to make this interesting.

The Richland game should have been 20+. And you're right I haven't given enough credit to Dixon, they played an all around great game. And I've never said that Minnick, and Bloodgood weren't good. I was just saying they are going to be very beatable when those two only have 3 points combined.

Dixon is much improved, I don't think anyone would argue that. Minnick and Bloodgood are usually good for at least twenty combined points. They just wouldn't go in that game. That isn't the norm. I think that is friscolovers point. What hurt Dixon that game was trying to take charges instead of playing defense. Grunting, leaning back, then throwing yourself backwards is not a charge. Sometimes it works, it didn't that night. Maybe if the officials would call fouls for flopping, it would stop. It's basketball, not drama club.
