Good afternoon everybody here is my wrap up from the Annual Richland Varsity Girls Pool Play Tournament.
(1) Dixon vs (4) School of the Osage
The Dixon Lady Bulldogs used a strong third quarter to dispatch the School of the Osage Lady Indians 47-30 to begin the tournament with a win. The first half of this one would be highly contested as Osage was able to use some foul difficulty on the Lady Bulldogs part to stay in the game. It would be a slim 18-14 Dxon lead at the intermission. Dixon would comeout in the third period and use some intense full court pressure to create Osage turnovers which would help the Lady Bulldogs get out in transition. Dixon would outscore School of the Osage 20-7 in the third period to push their lead out to a 38-21 edge after three. The final eight minutes of this one would provide Dixon head Coach Butch O'Reily with the opportunity to get his reserves some minutes to close out this one. Both teams would score 9 points each in the fourth quarter.

(2) Plato vs (3) Vienna
The night cap would see the Plato Lady Eagles pound the Vienna Lady Eagles 52-34. It appeared early on that this one might be a rout as Plato would run out to a 15-2 lead after the first quarter. Vienna would show some determination as they would rally in the second frame outscoring Plato 14-9 in the eight minutes to cut the lead down to a 24-16 edge at the break. Plato would come out in the third quarter with the same intensity they had in the first frame outscoring Vienna 15-7 to extend the lead to 39-23 after three. The final frame would see Plato outscoring Vienna 13-11.

(1) Dixon vs (5) Richland
The Dixon Lady Bulldogs used a ton of pressure defense to blast the host Richland Lady Bears 63-30 to advance to the Championship Game. Dixon would jump out of the gates with their full court pressure that would force several Richland turnovers and the Lady Bulldogs would lead it 21-10 after one. The Lady Bulldogs would blow this one open in the second frame as their defense would hold the Lady Bears to just five points while netting 19 of their own and it was Dixon leading 40-15 at half. Dixon would outscore Richland 14-8 in the third quarter to make it a 54-23 game. In the final frame each coach was able to clear their benches and allow the reserves to close this one out. Dixon would outscore Richland 9-7 in the final eight minutes.

(2) Plato vs (6) Bourbon
The Nightcap would see the Lady Eagles of Plato punch their ticket to the title game with a 69-56 whipping of Bourbon in a game that wasn't as close as the final score may indicate. The Lady Eagles would use pressure to get out and run in the first quarter and run they did to the tune of 30-12 after one period of play. The second quarter of the game would see Plato continue thier offensive onslaught as they would get half way to the century mark by the intermission. Plato would outscore Bourbon 20-12 in the quarter to make it a 50-24 game at the break. Plato would continue to play well in the third as they would outscore Bourbon 19-8 in the third and it was all Lady Eagles 69-32 at half. Coach McNeil would clear her bench for the fourth quarter and the Lady War Hawks would take advantage of it as they would pressure the Lady Eagle reserves and outscoe them 24-0 in the fourth to make this one a respectable final margin.

Good evening everybody here is my wrap up from day three of the Richland Girls Tournament
(4) School of the Osage vs (5) Richland
The Lady Indians of Osage used a strong second half to bury the host Richland Lady Bears 51-29 and advance to the third place game. This one was close early on and it would be the the Lady Indians leading 16-7 after one. In the second frame Richland would outscore School of the Osage 12-10 but it would be the Lady Indians on top 26-19 at the break. In the third School of the Osage would flex some defensive muscle as they would hold the Richland to just two points while putting up nine and they were up 35-21 after three. In the fourth School of the Osage would continue to roll and outscored the host 16-8 to win it in conviencing fashion.

The night cap of the evening saw a battle of Gasconade Valley Conference Foes and Vienna blistered the Bourbon Lady Warhawks 63-31 to earn a match up with School of the Osage for third place. The Lady Eagles would get a monster performance from sharpshooter Emma Schiermeier as she would pour in 31 points and can 9 three pointers which is a new tournament record for threes made in a game. The old record was seven threes made in a game by Richland's Kylie Eldridge in 2010-11. Alright on to the game, Vienna would pressure Bourbon early on and ran out to a 17-9 lead after one quarter. In the second Vienna would end this one from a compeditive stand point as they would outscore Bourbon 23-2 in the frame to open up a commanding 40-11 edge at the intermission. In the second half Vienna would cruise their way to the win outscoring Bourbon 19-12 in the third. Bourbon would win the fourth 8-4.

Good morning everybody here is my wrap up and my All Tournament selections from thefinal night of the Richland Holiday Tournament.
Consolation Game
It was a game that saw a ton of whistles as Richland and Bourbon played forthe consolation gameand there were over 60 combined fouls, 15 jump balls and over eighty free throws shot. When it was all said and done the Richland Lady Bears would nail down the 56-49 triumph. The first quarter would see points at a premiem and Richland was on top 4-3 after one. In the second Bourbon would outscore the Lady Bears 16-15 and this one was tied at half 19-19. The third quarter would see Richland outscoring theLady Warhawks 13-12 to carve out a 32-31 lead after three. The offense would take center stage in the fourth quarter and it would be the Lady Bears outgunning Bourbon 24-18 towin this one. Thekey was the free throw shooting Bourbon was 21 of 46 in the game (45 percent) and Richland was 20 of 37 (54 percent).

Third Place Game
The School of the Osage Lady Indians would pull away from the Vienna Lady Eagles in the secnod half and claim the third place hardware with a 54-38 victory. School of the Osage was able to come out nd execute offensively and build up a 14-9 lead after one quarter. In the second the Vienna Lady Eagles would rally outscoring the Lady Indians 12-7 in the second and this one was tied at 21-21 at the break. The third period would belong to the School of the Osage as they would outgun the Lady Eagles 19-11 in the frame and were on top 40-32 after three. School of the Osage would use their defense to pull away for the victory as they would hold Vienna to six points in the final eight minutes to win this one going away.

2013 Richland Tournament Championship
The Dixon Lady Bulldogs were able to claim the biggest peice of hardware as they downed the Plato Lady Eagles 55-43 in the title tilt. the Dixon Lady Bulldogs would use their big game experience and came out on a mission and would build up a 15-7 at the end of one quarter. The Lady Bulldogs would clamp down on defense and only allow three Lady Eagle points in the second while Dixon put up ten points to make it a 25-10 game at he intermission. In the third period the Lady Bulldogs would continue to roll as they would out pace the Lady Eagles 18-14 to push their lead out to a 43-24 after three. In final eight minutes Coach Butch O'Reily was able to get several of his reserves some minutes to help close out the game but give Plato some credt they wouldn't go down with out a fight as they would outscore the Lady Bulldogs 19-12 to end on somewhat of a high note. The difference in the game that i saw was that Dixon has played in big games before and Plato is a very young team that hasn't been in these type of big games.
