Good evening every body happy 2013 to all in Frisco County here is my wrap up from the Climax Springs at Richland Triple Header.
JV Boys Richland 36 Climax Springs 35
The Richland Junior Varsity Bears were able to start the festivities off with a bang as they were able to out grind Climax Springs 36-35.
The first period would be long to the Cougars as outgun Richland 15-11 in the frame. Richland would take the second 8-4 and it would be tied up 19-19 at the half. The third would be a grind with Climax Springs on top 26-23 after three. Richland would mount a comeback in the final seven. Both teams would trade the lead at one point. Richland would find themselves with a single point lead with 5.2 seconds remaining. Climax Springs forward Alex Walker had a clear look at the game winning three but it would rim out and Richland would pick up the win. The key to the Richland win was the free throw shooting as they went 14 of 23 from the line while Climax Springs went 3 of 10.
" We were able to get everybody some playing time tonight despite having sixteen suiting up for us tonight and we were able to pull off the win. We were able to grind this one out and didn't give up when we got down four or so in the fourth. We showed some fight and did a solid job at times of working the ball into the paint to help open up the drive. A good way for us to start the new year off." Richland Junior Varsity Coach Mark Schnieder

"Our defense really did a good job tonight of holding them down and we were able to really play physical. That is something that gave us a bit of trouble at the Richland Tournament. We were able to get a lot of production off our bench in fact Taylor (Andrews) had the game of his young varsity career. We got some good ball movement and he was able to hit some big shots. Cody had a nice game tonight with 22 points. We were able to guard better tonight and hopefully we can keep that up because when we are able bring defensive intensity we can be tough.
